The warm weather has arrived and summer plans are starting to come together. Between kids’ activities, days at the pool and vacation travel, your family is going to be out and about.
Large out-of-state security companies know the summer season changes a family’s schedule and might come around to take advantage. Many hire summer help, using door-to-door sales tactics to increase sales.
Before letting someone new into your home, consider these three questions:
“The state receives complaints every summer about door-to-door security salespeople giving homeowners false information or using deceitful tactics, which are designed to get the homeowner to switch providers or buy new equipment. The majority of these unscrupulous salespeople do not have the proper licensing from the Louisiana State Fire Marshal, so they have not followed proper procedure or undergone the required thorough background checks and drug testing,” says Acadian Total Security President Blane Comeaux. “All of our sales representatives and installation technicians carry the proper licenses at all times.”
These are just some of the questions we’ve developed after hearing from our customers who’ve received an unexpected visitor.
“The best way to protect yourself is to make sure your security provider, or one you are considering, has a strong local presence and will be there to service your system and assist you with customer service issues. Research the company and make sure they have a credible reputation,” Blane added.
Always do your own background research of the company and look up their Better Business Bureau (BBB) rating.
Our local sales staff does not make unannounced house calls and has proper licensing credentials to show, if questioned.
